Westport – Rush-Hour Highway Accident

A rush-hour crash occurred in Westport yesterday morning.

The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of Route 15, about a third of a mile before Exit 41 (Route 33/Wilton Road). Emergency responders arrived in the area at around 7:38 a.m. and discovered an accident that resulted in injuries. Officials have yet to specify the number of vehicles and motorists involved in the incident but have already accounted for and assisted everyone affected by the crash. A portion of the highway was closed following the incident, and it took road crews about an hour and a half to process and clear the site. This post will be updated when authorities release more information.

Following protocol, emergency crews are required to cordon off accident sites to allow them to assist people involved in these incidents, and allow investigators to study and collect evidence that will help identify crash causes/culprits. It pays to be aware of these protocols/processes so that we know what our options are if ever we or our loved ones are involved in similar situations in the future.
