Westport – Highway Crash
An evening crash blocked a portion of the highway in Westport yesterday.
State and local officials responded to the northbound lanes of I-95 after receiving reports of a crash the occurred a few feet before the Exit 17 off-ramp. The crash resulted in injuries and was reported at approximately 8:07 p.m. Road crews blocked a section of the roadway to allow medical teams to safely assist motorists involved in the accident. The site was cleared of all obstructions about an hour later. Authorities have yet to specify the number of motorists and vehicles in the crash pending an investigation. Updates will be provided as soon as more details are released.
In almost all cases, highway accidents have to be cordoned off to allow responders to safety assist injured/affected motorists, as well as allow investigators to do their work. Establishing accountability depends on these protocols and the diligence of emergency responders. Suffice it to say, these procedures will allow authorities to bring culprits to justice, as well as allow injured parties to pursue various legal options that can help them find closure.
