Tolland – Charges Filed Against DUI Suspect

Multiple charges have recently been filed against a motorist who caused an accident in Tolland last year.

On November 22, 2019, 44-year-old Kelly Kohler was driving with a child as a passenger when she crashed her vehicle near the intersection of Browns Bridge Road and Route 30. Kohler and her passenger sustained serious injuries in the crash and had to be hospitalized. A thorough investigation revealed that Kohler was intoxicated at the time of the incident. She is now facing charges of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, failure to drive in the proper lane, risk of injury to a minor, and DUI. She is currently released on bond and waiting for her court date.

Regardless of other considerations, driving while under the influence is a serious violation, and offenders should immediately be apprehended. Having said that, people injured due to the negligent actions of motorists are encouraged to seek legal guidance. Under appropriate scenarios, filing damage claims can help aggrieved parties cope, financially and emotionally, and eventually find closure.
