Danbury – Assault Suspect Arrested

A man suspected of shooting several people in a Danbury restaurant was arrested Thursday.

On January 11, 2020, 29-year-old Andrew Fermin was at Castello Restaurant on Padanaram Road when he shot and injured two people while engaged in an altercation with one of them. Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment of leg injuries. Fermin fled the area but was taken into custody Thursday after a comprehensive search involving state and federal officials. He is currently facing multiple charges related to two separate incidents and is scheduled to return to court on March 26.

Danbury – Serious Injuries In Pedestrian Incident

A person was trapped under a vehicle following an accident in Danbury last Friday.

At round 5:30 p.m., authorities received calls about an accident in the vicinity of the North Street Shopping Center. Emergency teams were quickly dispatched to the area and discovered a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle traveling on Padanaram Road. The victim was trapped under the striking vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. No word yet on hospitalization, but witnesses report the pedestrian incurred serious injuries. The area was cleared just before 7:00 p.m. The case is currently under investigation. Officials have yet to release additional information and will do so in due time.

Danbury – Bike-Car Collision

A bike collided with a vehicle in Danbury yesterday morning.

At approximately 11:25 a.m., firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to North Street/Route 37 after receiving reports of an accident in the area. According to responders, a bike crashed into a car, resulting in injuries to the rider. The occupants of the vehicle were not hurt. The victim was evaluated and treated on-site — no word yet on whether or not anyone was transported to the hospital. The crash blocked off one lane of the roadway, though road crews were able to clear the scene just several minutes later. The incident is currently under investigation. Danbury – Single-Vehicle Crash

An early morning crash in Danbury last Saturday resulted in serious injuries.

At approximately 2:11 a.m., authorities received reports of a crash in the area of 43 Pembroke Road (Route 37) and immediately sent emergency crews to the area. According to responders, a Scion TC traveling north on Route 37 suddenly veered off the roadway, crashing into a guardrail, utility pole and a tree before coming to a stop. The driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment. No word yet on whether or not another vehicle was involved in the accident. The crash is still under investigation and officials are asking possible witnesses to contact them as soon as possible.
