Middletown – Fatal Pedestrian Incident

A pedestrian was killed in an accident in Middletown last Wednesday evening.

Local authorities responded to 220 Newfield Street after receiving reports of a crash in the area. At approximately 6:23 p.m., a 68-year-old man was attempting to cross the roadway when he was struck by a 2014 Dodge Durango traveling south. The victim sustained critical injuries and was transported by responders to Middlesex Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Daryl Frankin, immediately stopped and has cooperated with officials. The case is currently under active investigation, and authorities are asking witnesses to contact them as soon as possible.

While liability is frequently assigned to drivers of vehicles involved in pedestrian incidents, pedestrians themselves can also cause these accidents. The goal of authorities is to accurately establish accountability in all of these cases. Sometimes, reports from witnesses can help officials complete these investigations and that makes their contributions crucial. In many cases, witnesses can also enable victims (or their families) to pursue their own legal options against suspects.

Wethersfield – Vehicle Crash

A car crash was reported in Wethersfield yesterday afternoon.

The incident was reported at approximately 5:06 p.m., prompting authorities to send fire and EMS teams to the northbound side of Route 3. According to responders, an unspecified number of vehicles and motorists were involved in an accident that resulted in injuries. The roadway was partially blocked following the crash, but it only took road crews about half an hour to clear the scene of all obstructions. As of posting time, everyone involved has been tended to by emergency personnel. Updates will be provided once officials release more info.

Disclosing information is an important aspect of processing road accidents. Motorists have to be made aware of the common causes of crashes so that they can be avoided. That said, establishing accountability is imperative so that culprits can be brought to justice. In some cases, it may also allow injured parties to file their own cases against suspects with the help of legal experts. This is usually possible when negligence is identified as a cause.
