Monroe – Sentence For Motorist Involved In Fatal Crash

A driver who killed a motorcyclist in Monroe was given a suspended sentence yesterday.

On July 16, 2017, Dan Falls and his wife, Betty, were riding a motorcycle north on Route 25 when they were struck head-on by a Hyundai Sonata that had swerved onto their lane. Both riders sustained serious injuries in the crash and were taken to the hospital by emergency responders. Betty Falls was released after a few days, while Dan Falls died a few weeks later. The driver of the car, 60-year-old Louis Maiorino, was subsequently apprehended and charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle. He pleaded guilty and agreed to a plea bargain. He was given a six-month suspended sentence yesterday, followed by two years of probation.

This case highlights the processes that typically follow road-related incidents resulting in injuries or fatalities. People who exhibit negligent or reckless behavior should be made liable for their actions and brought to justice.
