Meriden – Father Charged With Manslaughter And DUI

A father accused of DUI in a Meriden crash that killed his foster son has just been charged with manslaughter yesterday.

Back in September, James Bailey was driving on North Wall Street, with 17-year-old Alex Medina in the back seat, when he crashed their vehicle into a pole. Medina was thrown off the vehicle and sustained critical injuries. Authorities initially filed charges of reckless driving, reckless endangerment, assault with a motor vehicle and DUI against Bailey. Median fought for his life for a few days in the hospital. He eventually died on October 2. Due to this, Bailey is now facing an additional charge of vehicular manslaughter.

This case exemplifies the diligence that authorities would always exhibit when investigating road incidents and how suspects/culprits will eventually face charges commensurate to their actions. Obviously, they have to be brought to justice. What’s less apparent are the legal options aggrieved parties may be entitled to in cases where DUI, reckless behavior or negligence have been established. Talking to legal experts should help victims or their families make sense of these avenues.

If you or someone you care about was injured in an accident, you may need help navigating the complex challenges of paying for your medical bills, recouping your lost wages, and regaining your quality of life. New London – Pedestrian In Critical Condition After Hit

A pedestrian was seriously hurt in a crash in New London last Tuesday evening.

At around 10:15 p.m., a pedestrian was walking near the entrance of New London Mall when he/she was hit by a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Michael Meare. According to emergency responders, the still-unidentified victim was trapped beneath the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. The pedestrian was rescued and immediately transported to the hospital where he/she is currently listed in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle was apprehended by officials and is suspected of driving under the influence. The case is still under investigation. Updates will be provided when appropriate.

Driving under the influence is, obviously, a serious offense, and authorities will always exhibit unreserved diligence in bringing offenders to justice. Motorists and pedestrians injured by DUI suspects would also have various legal avenues at their disposal as this is considered negligent behavior. Consulting legal experts will help aggrieved parties make sense of their options and determine a suitable course of action that will help them find closure.

Norwalk – DUI/Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested

A motorist was arrested in Norwalk following a pedestrian incident last Saturday.

A 32-year-old pedestrian was attempting to cross North Main Street at approximately 2:20 a.m. when a white Ford Fusion hit him. Instead of stopping, the driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene. The victim sustained facial injuries and was transported by responders to Norwalk Hospital for treatment. Officials started searching for the suspect and, after pursuing a lead from a witness, was apprehended before the on-ramp to I-95. According to police, the driver, 37-year-old Cameron Davis, failed a sobriety test and was taken into custody. He is currently facing counts of assault with a motor vehicle and driving under the influence, among other charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 8.

Pedestrian accidents almost always result in serious injuries, and these cases are only aggravated by instances of hit-and-run and/or driving under the influence. Following these cases is useful because they inform us of the circumstances surrounding these incidents, and our options if ever we or our loved ones are involved in similar situations. Suffice it to say, talking to legal experts can be beneficial in these situations.

Meriden – Possible DUI In Recent Crash

Authorities just released more details regarding last Monday’s crash in Meriden that seriously injured a teen.

A 17-year-old was seriously hurt after the vehicle he was riding in, a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, swerved off the roadway, crashing into two utility poles before coming to a stop in the area of 231 North Wall Street. Officials have now identified 65-year-old James Bailey of Milton Drive as the driver of the vehicle, while the teen passenger is his foster son. The victim hit his head on one of the utility poles. He was transported by responders to Hartford Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. Officials who arrived on-site performed a sobriety test on Bailey which he failed. He was immediately arrested and is currently released on bond. He is facing charges of assault and DUI, and is scheduled to appear in court on October 15.

Driving under the influence is, obviously, a serious offense, and authorities should always assume a strong stance against these offenders, making sure they are brought to justice. The fact that the victim in this incident is related to the suspect complicates this case, but should not detract from the fact that injured parties in this and other similar cases have legal options at their disposal. Victims or their next of kin can consult legal experts to determine what their best courses of action are.

Milford – Motorist Charged With DUI

A motorist was arrested and charged last Sunday in connection with a vehicle accident that occurred in Milford last July.

63-year-old John Serra of Milford was arrested by local authorities and charged with driving under the influence. This stems from a July 10 incident where he was involved in an accident that resulted in injuries. The crash occurred at the intersection of Woodmont and Pepes Farm Roads. He is now scheduled to appear in court. This post will be updated when authorities release more details regarding this case.

It pays to follow this and other similar cases where negligence or reckless behavior has been established because we are informed of the legal possibilities that can be explored if ever we or our loved ones are involved in similar situations. These options can be made available to us with the help of expert legal counsel.

Cromwell – Driver In Fatal Crash Charged

A driver responsible for a highway fatality in Cromwell was arrested yesterday.

28-year-old Dayquan Hibbert of New Britain was just arrested by state officials in connection to an October 26, 2018 incident where he was involved in a crash that killed 28-year-old John William Griffin. Hibbert was driving a car southbound on I-91, with Griffin as his passenger, when he tried avoiding a traffic stop, crashing his vehicle at Exit 21. Hibbert sustained injuries in the crash, while Griffin was killed in the incident. According to authorities, Hibbert later admitted that he was driving under the influence when the crash occurred. He is currently facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence and manslaughter, and is scheduled to appear in court today.

Following this and other similar cases is useful because, as motorists, we are informed of various circumstances that surround most road incidents that result in fatalities, and what victims could be entitled to. Suffice it to say, DUI, reckless behavior and negligence are factors that can allow victims of these unfortunate events or their families to file for damages/compensation.

New Haven – Motorist Arrested After Fatal Crash

A driver was arrested following an intersection crash in New Haven last Saturday that resulted in a fatality.

At approximately 5:29 p.m., a still-unidentified motorcycle operator was at the intersection of Sylvan and Winthrop Avenues when he was hit by an Acura sedan driven by 42-year-old Jerry Boucicault of New Haven. The rider sustained critical injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead soon after. Boucicault has since been arrested by officials and is currently facing a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (DUI). He is scheduled to be arraigned today. Authorities will release more information about the incident when appropriate.

Road accidents that result in fatalities are investigated thoroughly to determine if negligence or reckless behavior could be involved. Aside from these factors, incidents involving DUI will only aggravate cases against suspects/culprits. It’s also worth remembering that motorists who are injured because of these elements may be entitled to file for damages. Talking to legal experts should be a good first step identifying a suitable course of action.

Bridgeport – Motorist Arrested In DUI Incident

A motorist was charged with DUI in Bridgeport yesterday.

33-year-old Lee Velasquez of Stillman Street was charged in connection to a June 24, 2018 incident where she was involved in a two-vehicle crash. Velasquez was driving in the area of the Route 8/25 junction when she collided with a vehicle driven by William Acevedo, Jr. of Bridgeport. Velasquez was discovered by emergency crews lying on the ground with multiple lacerations on her body. On the other hand, Acevedo, Jr. was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. Both were eventually brought to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where Acevedo, Jr. was diagnosed with multiple fractures, while Velasquez was treated for more serious injuries that left her paralyzed. The investigation that followed determined that Velasquez had a blood alcohol level that exceeded the legal limit. She was also not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The dangers of driving while intoxicated cannot be overstated, and this case highlights that. It’s important to note that we have legal avenues available to us if ever we are injured due to negligence, reckless behavior or DUI. Consulting legal experts will be an important step in finding closure after these unfortunate events.

Vernon – Highway Crash With DUI Suspect

A motorist was charged with DUI after a highway crash in Vernon last Saturday.

Emergency crews were called in to the eastbound side of I-84 crossing Vernon, just before exit 66, and discovered an accident involving multiple vehicles. Injuries were reported by authorities, and those involved have already been tended to by medical personnel. Immediately after the incident, 34-year-old Scott Olsen of Bolton was apprehended and charged with driving under the influence and tailgating for his involvement in the accident. Officials are still investigating the incident and will release more updates as they become available.

Motorists who are injured in incidents involving DUI or negligent behavior have legal options at their disposal, including filing for damages/compensation. It pays to take note of this if ever we or our loved ones are involved in similar situations in the future.

Seymour – DUI Causes Several Injuries

Two people were injured by a man driving under the influence in Seymour last Wednesday evening.

Local officials responded to a three-vehicle accident that occurred on Great Hill Road (Route 334) at approximately 8:30 p.m. 36-year-old Deonte Glass of Georgia was driving his Dodge Ram pickup truck north on that route when his vehicle crossed the center line and hit a Ford Mustang on the southbound lane. The truck then continued north and hit another vehicle, a Toyota Prius, also headed south. The driver of the Mustang was not injured. The two occupants of the Prius sustained injuries and were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. Glass was apprehended by authorities and given a sobriety test, which he failed. He was arrested and is now facing charges of failure to drive right and DUI.

Injuries caused by negligence, reckless behavior or, in this case, DUI are strong grounds for filing compensation/damage claims. Consulting a legal expert in this field should inform us of our rights and options as motorists if ever we or our loved ones are involved in similar situations.
