A rider was killed after colliding with a pickup truck in Sprague last Friday evening.

State police responded to reports of the crash and discovered 21-year-old Andrew Morrison Jr. seriously injured. According to authorities, he was riding his dirt bike north on Route 97 (Scotland Road), near its intersection with Salt Rock Road, when he collided with a pickup truck making a turn onto the southbound lane. Morrison was thrown off his bike onto the hood and windshield of the truck before landing on the road. He was transported to Backus Hospital for serious injuries where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck was brought to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Officials investigate all possible angles in road accidents, particularly in cases where the culprit/cause is not readily apparent. That said, if any form of negligence is discovered, injured parties or their families may be entitled to compensation/damages under appropriate circumstances.
