Orange – Officer Hit By Senior Driver

A local officer was hit by a vehicle while responding to an accident in Orange last Thursday evening.

Officer Chris Brown, a veteran member of the law enforcement community, responded to a crash report on Marsh Hill Road, near Outback Steakhouse. Upon arrival, he left his vehicle and carefully approached the driver’s side of a disabled vehicle on the southbound side of the roadway. At this point, a white 2013 Nissan Rogue driven by 76-year-old Arthur Schultz passed by the crash site and hit Officer Brown. Emergency responders quickly transported the victim to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment. Schultz immediately stopped after hitting Brown and has cooperated with authorities. The incident is still under investigation.

While ill-intent is not apparent in this incident, investigators will still look at all possibilities so that liability can be accurately established. If they discover any form of reckless behavior or negligence in this and other similar cases, injured parties will have the option of filing for damages with the help of expert legal counsel.
