Hamden – Injuries After Car Crashes Into Store

Two people were hospitalized following a crash in Hamden late yesterday afternoon.

At around 4:46 p.m., fire and EMS crews were dispatched to 852 Dixwell Avenue after receiving reports of a crash in the area. According to responders, a vehicle swerved off the roadway and crashed into a laundromat. The driver of the vehicle and one person inside the establishment were injured in the incident and taken to the hospital by paramedics. No word yet on whether or not other vehicles were involved in the accident. The crash is currently under investigation. More information, including the identities of everyone involved, will be provided when appropriate.

Most cases where vehicles unexpectedly crash into buildings or other roadside structures don’t have immediately obvious causes. While driver error can be blamed in some of these cases, there have also been instances of vehicle defects/failures causing similar events in the past. Of course, authorities will look at all possibilities before making a conclusion. This will not only bring culprits to justice, but also allow injured parties to seek damages in cases where negligence played a part.
