Glastonbury – Injuries In Highway Accident

Three people were injured in a highway accident in Glastonbury last Saturday afternoon.

At around 3:30 p.m., authorities responded to reports of an accident on Route 2, in the area of exit 10. A truck traveling on the highway hit a stopped car on the right shoulder, forcing it to move and injuring three West Haven motorists. 70-year-old Emilio Pena and 41-year-old Klever Pena were outside their car and sustained serious injuries, while 65-year-old Sofia Cruz-Sanchez de Pena was inside their vehicle and also sustained injuries in the collision. They were immediately transported by emergency crews to Hartford Hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck; 37-year-old Sergei Barybin, also from West Haven; refused to be treated and stayed at the accident scene. The crash is currently being investigated. Officials are asking anyone with relevant information about the incident to contact them as soon as possible.

Highway accidents frequently result in serious injuries to motorists, so identifying who or what is at fault is a priority for investigators.
