Bethel – Truck Crash Causes Injuries on I-84
A tire blowout caused a truck to crash on I-84 last Friday.
37-year-old Alan Dominy of Terryville was driving a truck owned by O&G Industries westbound on I-84 crossing Bethel when, at approximately 1:30 p.m., its front right tire blew out just before reaching exit 8. This resulted in the truck swerving out of control and crashing into a wire rope guardrail before falling down an embankment and into a parking lot. At the time of the crash, 39-year-old Tiffany Pelletier was driving her 2017 Volkswagen Golf at a safe distance behind Dominy’s truck. The snapped portion of the wire guardrail hit the rear window of her vehicle. Pelletier was not hurt and refused treatment, while Dominy was immediately transported to Danbury Hospital for several injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Incidents where involved parties are not considered negligent should be investigated thoroughly as there have been precedents for product/vehicle defects causing injuries to people. That said, expert legal counsel can help us understand our options in case we are involved in these types of situations.
