Waterbury – Wolcott Driver Awarded $236,072 for Accident Injuries
Noella Doucet, a 77-year-old resident of Wolcott, CT was awarded $236,072 in past and future damages by a Waterbury Superior Court jury this past week. The six-person jury voted in favor of Doucet after a three-day trial, concluding the case Doucet filed back in August 2015.
The plaintiff, Doucet, filed her lawsuit against Scott Jameson, the driver of a commercial vehicle, and its owner and co-defendant, Durable Radiator & Auto Body, Inc. Doucet’s car was rear-ended by Jameson’s vehicle, resulting in serious neck injuries to Doucet. The whiplash injury caused damage to the plaintiff’s neck ligaments, resulting in constant pain and headaches, and requiring constant treatment to this day. The defendants’ attorney claimed that the plaintiff exaggerated her injuries and was already suffering from neck arthritis when the accident occurred. The plaintiff’s attorney, on the other hand, pointed to the fact that Jameson admitted in court that he was tailgating Doucet’s car in the scene of the incident. Dr. Jonathan Kost, a renowned physician in Meriden and West Hartford, also testified to make sense of Doucet’s condition, helping the jury make its decision favoring Doucet.
