Waterbury – Officer Injured In Assault
A local police officer was hurt while apprehending a suspect in Waterbury early yesterday morning.
At approximately 1:35 a.m., a local police officer was on Porter Street when he identified 33-year-old Kristian Rivera, a known offender with an outstanding arrest warrant. The officer tackled Rivera, but the suspect resisted and was able to escape using the officer’s cruiser. The police officer sustained multiple injuries in the incident and was taken to the hospital. Rivera was eventually found and arrested a short time later in Seymour. He is now facing multiple charges related to this and prior incidents.
