Brookfield – Major Crash On Highway

State and local authorities were alerted to a highway crash in Brookfield last Saturday evening.

Officials received reports of the crash at around 8:40 p.m. and sent emergency personnel to the northbound lanes of Route 7. Upon arriving, they discovered a still unspecified number of vehicles involved in a crash near Exit 12 that resulted in injuries. At least one vehicle was on the median and this forced fire crews to close down the left lane of the highway for less than half an hour. All motorists affected by the incident have since been assisted by medical personnel, and all lanes have since been cleared. The crash is still under investigation.

Falls Village – Rollover Crash

A vehicle rolled over in Canaan yesterday afternoon.

Emergency crews were dispatched to Route 7 in Canaan after authorities received reports of an accident. Responders quickly closed down the roadway at its intersection with Stein Lane to facilitate rescue operations. An overturned vehicle with injuries was reported at the scene. Fire and EMS crews have since assisted everyone affected by the crash. The incident is currently under investigation. Officials have yet to identify any victim in the accident and will do so when appropriate. This post will be updated as more information comes in.

In almost all cases, rollover accidents result in serious injuries, so identifying the causes of these incidents is imperative so that future accidents might be avoided, Having said that, once investigators establish accountability, and if negligence is discovered, injured parties can consult a legal expert to determine what their options are in terms of filing for damages.

Ridgefield – Road Plans After Spate Of Accidents

Ridgefield residents are studying road changes on Route 7 following several accidents in the area.

Residents in Ridgefield are currently working with state officials on a study that can help improve safety on Route 7, particularly its intersection with Ashbee Lane. Several accidents have already occurred in the area, including a crash last Thursday between two vehicles that blocked access to the intersection. That particular crash resulted in heavy damage and injuries, requiring the assistance of fire and EMS crews. This and other cases are currently being studied to determine the changes that can be made to the intersection to make it safer for all motorists. Updates regarding this proposal will be released as soon as progress has been made.

This petition highlights the importance of improving road safety for everyone plying all roads in the state. Despite this, accidents still happen, and motorists should be aware of their rights and options as involved parties in these unfortunate events. One good way of educating ourselves to these options is to consult legal experts.

New Canaan – Rollover Crash Fatality

A local man was killed in an accident in New Canaan last Sunday evening.

Authorities quickly dispatched emergency crews to Route 7 after an accident that occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. According to officials, 46-year-old Matthew Holderman was traveling north on Route 7 when his vehicle suddenly swerved to the right shoulder near Sand Road. The vehicle then struck several roadside structures before crashing into a utility pole and rolling over. Holderman sustained critical injuries in the crash and was trapped inside his vehicle. He was later pronounced dead. Officials are currently investigating the crash and are asking anyone who may have witnessed it to contact them as soon as possible.

As this case is still under investigation, we have yet to be presented with evidence suggesting another party/vehicle caused the crash. In road incidents with no immediately apparent causes, investigators will look at, among other factors, product defects as possible culprits. Suffice it to say, injuries caused by any form of negligence can enable victims to file for damages if deemed appropriate by legal experts.

Norwalk – Highway Accident

Authorities responded to a highway accident in Norwalk yesterday evening.

Just before 8:00 p.m., emergency crews arrived on the northbound side of Route 7, less than a tenth of a mile past exit 1 (Belden Avenue), to assist motorists involved in a vehicle accident. Injuries were reported, and medical teams have arrived at the scene. Officials have processed the accident site and were able to clear it just 20 minutes later. The identities of those involved and other pertinent information have yet to be released pending an investigation. Updates will be provided when appropriate.

Nighttime driving has been proven to be riskier to motorists, particularly in adverse conditions, so identifying the causes of nighttime accidents can help everyone prevent future incidents from happening. That said, if authorities discover DUI, negligence or reckless behavior in any of these cases, those injured can consult their legal counsel to explore their best course of action.

New Milford – New Details In Route 7 Crash

Police now have a clearer picture of the details surrounding a recent accident in New Milford.

Local officials have been investigating the June 11 crash thoroughly. New details have emerged from this. Tuesday last week, 24-year-old Christina Walters was driving her car when she collided with a truck driven by 59-year-old Jeff Griener. The crash killed Walters, while Griener sustained injuries. Investigators working on the case have now concluded that the truck Griener was driving maintained the proper northbound path prior to the incident, while Walters’ car veered from its southbound path onto the opposite lane, causing the collision. Officials are still investigating all possibilities in the accident and will update the public when appropriate.

The specific case demonstrates the dedication public officials have in investigating road incidents across the state. This is particularly noteworthy because establishing liability/accountability is always the priority for authorities in the aftermath of these unfortunate events. It’s only appropriate that we, as motorists, should be aware of our rights and legal options when involved in similar situations. Consulting legal experts in this field should prove to be useful.

New Milford – Crash Causes Death And Injuries

A collision between a car and dump truck causes serious injuries in New Milford yesterday morning.

At around 9:00 a.m., two vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection of Cedar Hill Road and Kent Road (Route 7). A car, driven by 24-year-old Cristina Walters collided with a dump truck being driven by 59-year-old Jeff Griener. The crash forced the truck down an embankment and into the Housatonic River. Griener was seriously injured and was brought to the hospital but was stable. Walters died in the crash. Authorities said this particular intersection is prone to accidents, and town officials have started studying ways to improve safety in the area.

Accidents involved large vehicles usually cause serious injuries and deaths to those involved. It’s important to study these types of incidents because if it happens to us or our loved ones, we should be aware of our rights and options as aggrieved parties/victims.

New Milford – Mulling Sidewalks After Multiple Injuries/Deaths

Town officials in New Milford are finding it challenging to grapple with improving pedestrian safety on their roads.

Of particular note is Route 7 (also known as Danbury Road) where several people have already been injured or killed in the past ten years. Three of the last seven accidents have occurred in its intersection with Pickett District Road, making that area extremely dangerous for pedestrians. Route 7 was initially developed without provisions for sidewalks. The local government and residents have now volunteered to address this growing problem. In fact, property and business owners along Route 7 have agreed to build sidewalks in front of their residences/establishments. The local government still has to deal with how to fund this project. But everyone is in agreement that improving motorist and pedestrian safety is in everyone’s best interest.

It pays to take note of this development in New Milford because Connecticut laws are very strict when it comes to protecting motorist and pedestrian safety. There are precedents for this: injuries sustained by motorists or pedestrians due to negligence are grounds for personal injury claims.

New Milford – Serious Injuries After Head-On Crash

A head-on crash with entrapment occurred in New Milford yesterday morning.

Authorities responded to a report of a crash that happened at around 8:00 a.m. on Route 7 crossing New Milford, near the Kent and Cedar Hill Roads intersection. One person was trapped inside one of the involved vehicles and had to be extricated by firefighters. It took them around 15 minutes to free the victim. At 8:30 a.m., the person was already being transported to Danbury Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Route 7 was closed immediately after the accident and was reopened at 9:00 a.m.

Head-on crashes almost always cause injuries to people, so it’s important to identify the causes of these types of accidents so that liability can be established. People who are injured in these types of accidents can always ask for help from expert legal counsel to learn about their options.
