Emergency crews were sent to the area and discovered multiple vehicles that had collided, resulting in injuries. The portion of the intersection was quickly blocked off to allow various crews to assist motorists affected and investigate the cause of the incident. Hamden – Town Crash Update

Authorities just released more details regarding last Wednesday’s crash in Hamden.

At around 8:30 p.m., 25-year-old Moet Bacote of New Haven was driving his vehicle south on State Street (Route 5) when his vehicle suddenly swerved onto the opposite lane, crashing into a box truck being driven by a 26-year-old resident of Middlefield. Bacote sustained serious injuries in the head-on crash and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he pronounced dead shortly after. The still-unidentified driver of the truck was also transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and blocked off the roadway for several hours. Route 5 has since been cleared of all obstructions. The crash is still under investigation.

Authorities always investigate head-on collisions with the goal of making changes that can hopefully prevent future incidents. There have been cases where similar collisions were caused by reckless behavior, negligence or DUI, so these are factors that officials will always look at. Establishing liability will not only bring culprits to justice, but also allow victims to pursue legal options that can help them find closure.

Hamden – Entrapment And Injuries In Crash

A motorist was trapped and injured in a crash in Hamden yesterday morning.

Local fire and EMS crews responded to 2891 State Street (Route 5) after receiving reports of an accident in the area. According to responders, a car was involved in a crash, trapping its occupant/driver. Firefighters had to extricate the injured person, after which he/she was tended to by medical personnel and transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for further treatment. The identity of the motorist has yet to be disclosed by officials pending an investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities blocked off the area temporarily — it has since been cleared. Officials will release updates, including the identity of the injured motorist, when appropriate.

Vehicle entrapment still occurs despite various safety features in almost all modern vehicles. It usually indicates the severity of a particular crash, as well as highlight the risk motorists have to shoulder when traveling anywhere. These things said, it’s important to know what causes these accidents so that similar situations can be prevented. Identifying causes/culprits can also open various legal avenues that injured parties can explore, including filing for damages as a way of finding closure after these traumatic events.

Enfield – Hit-And-Run Suspect Enters Plea

A driver responsible for a fatal incident in Enfield just pleaded guilty yesterday.

On December 2, 2016, 31-year-old Rocco Barile was driving his Chevrolet Silverado when he struck and killed then 20-year-old Jeremy Mercier in the area of 1443 Enfield Street (Route 5). Mercier sustained critical injuries in the hit and was pronounced dead soon after. Barile fled the scene immediately after the incident. He was eventually apprehended after authorities started looking for and interviewing owners of the same pickup truck in the area. In the months that followed, Barile was charged by Enfield police with evading responsibility, tampering with evidence, and misconduct with a motor vehicle. He has now entered a plea agreement with state prosecutors and scheduled to appear in court for his sentencing on January 2.

Authorities will always work hard to ensure that crash suspects are brought to justice. Whatever the final agreement or verdict, these culprits have to be made accountable for their actions. Having said that, victims of these incidents may also have legal avenues they can explore, particularly in cases where DUI, reckless behavior or negligence have been established. Talking to expert legal counsel can help them understand what these options are.

Meriden – Injuries After Accident

A motorist was injured in a collision in Meriden yesterday morning.

The accident occurred on South Broad Street (Route 5). At approximately 10:55 a.m., an SUV rear-ended another vehicle in front of Meriden Hyundai. One person was transported by emergency crews to the hospital for treatment of a broken leg. Officials closed down Route 5 to facilitate cleanup operations and an investigation of the incident. According to them, the driver of one of the involved vehicles will be charged with reckless driving. The crash is still being investigated. Updates will be provided as soon as authorities release more information.

Rear-end collisions are responsible for specific types of personal injuries that can have long-term effects on motorists. Authorities need to accurately identify causes/culprits in this and other cases so that future incidents can be prevented. Assigning liability can also benefit victims of these accidents as this may entitle them to damages/compensation under appropriate circumstances and with the help of expert counsel.

Wethersfield – Multiple Injuries In Multi-Vehicle Crash

Route 15 was closed down after a multiple-vehicle accident in Wethersfield last Friday.

A three-vehicle collision occurred on the southbound side of Route 15 resulting in heavy damage, a small fire and serious injuries. Emergency crews responded to the area near Exit 85 to assist those involved in the incident. Four motorists were transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment. Officials were forced to close the roadway between Exits 87 and 85 — it has since been cleared. Authorities have yet to identify the victims pending an investigation. They will do so when appropriate.

Multiple-vehicle accidents like this typically result in serious injuries to motorists. Identifying who or what caused these accidents is an important goal for authorities. Enfield – More Details In State Border Crash

Authorities have released more details about the recent Connecticut-Massachusettes state line crash.

59-year-old Daniel Nacin of Enfield was driving a U.S. Postal Service truck just past the CT-MA border when he was hit by a pickup truck coming from the Enfield section of Route 5. Officials have now identified the driver of the pickup as 47-year-old David Cersosimo of Rocky Hill. Both drivers sustained critical injuries in the accident and were pronounced dead at Baystate Medical Center. According to authorities, Cersosimo avoided apprehension by the police and collided with another vehicle prior to hitting Nacin’s truck. The crash remains under investigation.

Investigators handling this case have to rely on other sources of evidence/information as both parties involved died in the incident. That said, they will exhaust all means to establish accountability in this case. This is particularly important to the families of both victims as this will help them find closure after this tragic event.

Enfield – Police Chase Ends In Fatal Crash

A car chase that started in Enfield resulted in fatalities yesterday morning.

A few minutes after 11:00 a.m., an Enfield patrol officer reported observing a pickup truck running erratically near the intersection of Route 5 and Alden Avenue. The officer followed the vehicle on its northbound route and reported seeing the driver running through several red lights in the area. Just a few minutes later, the truck passed the Connecticut-Massachusettes line after which it crashed into a U.S. Postal Service vehicle being driven by 40-year-old Dan Nacin of Enfield. The federal employee sustained critical injuries in the crash and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital where he was eventually pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck also sustained serious injuries and eventually died. The crash is currently being investigated by state and local officials. Updates will be provided as they become available.

The circumstances and locations involved in this case required the intervention of authorities from both Connecticut and Massachusettes. Jurisdictions aside, investigators will eventually establish liability in this case. Taking note of this is important because in road incidents that involve DUI, reckless behavior or negligence, aggrieved parties or their families will have various options they can discuss with their legal counsel to help them find closure after these unfortunate events.
