Westport – Settlement For Motorist Injured In Crash

A motorist was awarded $760,364 for injuries sustained in a Westport car crash.

In 2015, Ivan Zapata was driving his vehicle on Saugatuck Avenue when his car was struck on its side by another vehicle driven by Steven Phillips. Zapata sustained significant spinal injuries in the crash and was advised surgery by medical experts. Due to unforeseen circumstances, he was unable to undergo surgery right away but was eventually able to. He incurred significant financial and emotional strain due to the incident and decided to file a suit in Bridgeport in 2017. The case was sent to arbitration and, after a long negotiation, both parties have agreed to a final settlement amount of $760,364. Today, Zapata remains partially impaired and experiences daily pain episodes related to injuries sustained four years ago.

There are many factors and circumstances to be reviewed when injured parties explore the possibility of filing for damages against individuals who may have caused their predicament. That said, evidence of reckless or negligent behavior can allow aggrieved parties to pursue this avenue. In these situations, legal experts can help people review their options and create a suitable course of action.

Norwalk – Car Crashes Into Pickup Truck

A car veered off the road and crashed into a pickup truck in Norwalk last Thursday.

The accident occurred on 59 Winfield Street (Route 136). A white car was traveling south when it swerved off Route 136 and hit several trees before crashing onto the bed of a parked pickup truck. A window of the house behind the parked truck was also damaged due to the crash. Norwalk fire crews removed two occupants from the car and immediately transported them to Norwalk Hospital for further evaluation and treatment of injuries. Norwalk Police are still investigating the incident.

If DUI, reckless driving or negligence can be removed as possible causes of vehicle accidents, then authorities can consider product/vehicle defects or road damage as culprits. In such cases, aggrieved parties, with the help of legal experts, can file for damage/compensation claims.
