A police chase that started in New Haven ended with a crash in Hamden yesterday afternoon.
Shortly after noon, New Haven police were alerted to a possible crime and tried to apprehend a suspect who fled in a car. The vehicle crossed into Hamden, with local police continuing the chase until the suspect vehicle crashed into an SUV near the intersection of Dixwell Avenue (Route 10) and Benham Street. Officials eventually discovered three occupants in the suspect vehicle. Emergency crews transported one person to the hospital for treatment of injuries. The incident is still being investigated and authorities are looking for possible leads or witnesses who can provide more information.
While it might seem that all the occupants of the suspect vehicle in this case could be liable, investigators still need to consider all possible angles before establishing accountability. This is particularly important because if negligence is discovered, and injured parties are absolved of any ill intent, they can file for damages/compensation under proper circumstances.
