Waterbury – Head-On Crash Driver Charged

A motorist who caused a head-on collision in Waterbury last June has just been charged by authorities.

Back in June, 25-year-old Yusef Rawls was driving his black Acura west on East Plank Road when he suddenly swerved onto the opposite lane, crashing into a Honda Accord with several occupants. Two motorists were trapped inside the second vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders. They were treated on-site then transported to the hospital for treatment. Instead of stopping, Rawls fled the crash site — he was eventually found and apprehended. A subsequent investigation has established negligence on the part of Rawls, leading up to last Tuesday’s filing of charges against him. He is currently waiting for his time in court.

In most cases, authorities/investigators would require this much time to thoroughly establish accountability in road-related incidents. It’s important for officials to accurately identify causes/culprits, and it speaks to the dedication the law enforcement community will always exhibit when dealing with these events. These things said, victims of incidents involving reckless behavior or negligence will, under appropriate circumstances, have options that can help them cope and find closure. Legal experts have the means of guiding aggrieved parties through this process.

West Haven – Sentencing In Fatal Crash

A motorist was just sentenced to prison for killing another driver in West Haven.

47-year-old Robert Kryzkij will spend 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter, violating probation and engaging police in pursuit last July. On November 9, 2017, Kryzkij was driving a vehicle that rear-ended a car in Orange. Instead of stopping, Kryzkij fled the scene, prompting officials to pursue the suspect. He eventually made it to Meloy Road in West Haven where he collided head-on with a car driven by then 54-year-old Philip Hunt. Hunt sustained critical injuries and died in the crash. At the time of the incident, Kryzkij was driving under the influence. According to records, Kryzkij has a history of various offenses, including assault and other incidents of DUI.

This case highlights the circumstances that surround most road incidents caused by DUI. It is imperative that these offenders are taken off the road and brought to justice. That said, victims of these events have options at their disposal. Aggrieved parties should be given opportunities to cope and find closure, and in many cases, legal experts can help victims make sense of these options.
