Enfield – Hit-And-Run Suspect Enters Plea

A driver responsible for a fatal incident in Enfield just pleaded guilty yesterday.

On December 2, 2016, 31-year-old Rocco Barile was driving his Chevrolet Silverado when he struck and killed then 20-year-old Jeremy Mercier in the area of 1443 Enfield Street (Route 5). Mercier sustained critical injuries in the hit and was pronounced dead soon after. Barile fled the scene immediately after the incident. He was eventually apprehended after authorities started looking for and interviewing owners of the same pickup truck in the area. In the months that followed, Barile was charged by Enfield police with evading responsibility, tampering with evidence, and misconduct with a motor vehicle. He has now entered a plea agreement with state prosecutors and scheduled to appear in court for his sentencing on January 2.

Authorities will always work hard to ensure that crash suspects are brought to justice. Whatever the final agreement or verdict, these culprits have to be made accountable for their actions. Having said that, victims of these incidents may also have legal avenues they can explore, particularly in cases where DUI, reckless behavior or negligence have been established. Enfield – More Details In State Border Crash

Authorities have released more details about the recent Connecticut-Massachusettes state line crash.

59-year-old Daniel Nacin of Enfield was driving a U.S. Postal Service truck just past the CT-MA border when he was hit by a pickup truck coming from the Enfield section of Route 5. Officials have now identified the driver of the pickup as 47-year-old David Cersosimo of Rocky Hill. Both drivers sustained critical injuries in the accident and were pronounced dead at Baystate Medical Center. According to authorities, Cersosimo avoided apprehension by the police and collided with another vehicle prior to hitting Nacin’s truck. The crash remains under investigation.

That said, they will exhaust all means to establish accountability in this case. This is particularly important to the families of both victims as this will help them find closure after this tragic event.

Yesterday, a car crash on Route 190 injured three people.

Connecticut State Police reported yesterday that the accident was preceded by a police pursuit. The suspect’s vehicle, a silver Honda Accord, hit some Massachusettes State Police cruisers but avoided apprehension. A pursuit ensued but was halted after the suspect’s vehicle crossed the border. Connecticut State Police continued the pursuit but eventually ended it. Shortly after, the suspect’s car hit an Acura SUV on Route 190 crossing Enfield near Taylor Road. Enfield Police reported that the suspect was taken to Hartford Hospital. The driver and passenger of the SUV, a 29-year-old woman and her 5-year-old son, were also transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. A relative of the victim reportedly said that the woman sustained a leg injury. The suspect will be charged by authorities with evading the police.
