Danbury – Pedestrian Injured By Truck

A man was hit by a passing pickup truck in Danbury last Friday afternoon.

A few minutes before 5:00 p.m., reports came in of an accident at the intersection of Wildman and Chestnut Streets. Emergency crews were dispatched to the area and discovered 56-year-old Kevin Woulfe of Danbury injured after a pickup truck hit him. According to officials, Woulfe was walking north on Wildman Street when a 2010 Ford F-150, driven by 29-year-old Mauricio Brito-Santos of Danbury, attempted to make a turn at the intersection, hitting Woulfe in the process. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the incident and are still investigating it. They are also asking possible witnesses to contact them as soon as possible.

Authorities handling this case have yet to discover any evidence suggesting any ill-intent on the part of any involved party. That said, investigators will continue to study the case until accountability has been accurately established. Achieving this goal will not only bring culprits to justice but also allow injured parties to seek damages in incidents where negligence, DUI or reckless behavior have been discovered.

Danbury – Fatal Pedestrian Accident

A senior died in a pedestrian incident in Danbury last Friday evening.

At around 8:00 p.m., 71-year-old Dona Kramer of Ohio was attempting to cross Federal Road, near Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, when she was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a still-unidentified motorist. Kramer was seriously hurt in the crash and was immediately transported to Danbury Hospital where she eventually died from her injuries. According to officials, the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian when she appeared in his/her view. The incident is still under investigation.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of this incident and will continue to investigate until the cause is identified accurately. In this and other similar cases where causes are not readily apparent, investigators will have to look at all angles, including product defects, driver negligence, and even inadequate road signs. Of course, these are just a few of many possibilities. Whatever the outcome, the involvement of any form of negligence can enable injured parties to file for damages as deemed appropriate by legal experts.

Danbury – Single-Vehicle Crash

An early morning crash in Danbury last Saturday resulted in serious injuries.

At approximately 2:11 a.m., authorities received reports of a crash in the area of 43 Pembroke Road (Route 37) and immediately sent emergency crews to the area. According to responders, a Scion TC traveling north on Route 37 suddenly veered off the roadway, crashing into a guardrail, utility pole and a tree before coming to a stop. The driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment. No word yet on whether or not another vehicle was involved in the accident. The crash is still under investigation and officials are asking possible witnesses to contact them as soon as possible.

Product defects, among other factors, are considered when authorities investigate single-vehicle accidents without immediately obvious causes. Whatever the outcome of these cases, if officials discover negligence, injured parties not responsible for these crashes may have the option of filing for damages as deemed appropriate by their legal counsel.

Danbury – Bus Crashes, Overturns

A bus figured in an accident in Danbury last Monday morning.

Fire and EMS crews responded to West Redding Road after local authorities received reports of an overturned bus in the area. According to responders, a bus with no passengers swerved off the roadway and rolled onto its side. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was evaluated and treated on-site by EMS personnel. The area near the intersection of West Redding and East Starrs Plain Roads was closed following the incident. The area has since been cleared. Based on evidence already gathered by authorities, no other vehicle was involved in the accident. More information will be released when appropriate.

It is in these cases where accident investigators have to look at other, less obvious possibilities in establishing liability. If the driver is cleared of any negligence, then other angles, including product/vehicle defects, can be explored. That said, and whatever the outcome of these investigations, if authorities discover any form of negligence, aggrieved parties may have options that can be discussed with legal experts.

Danbury – Hit-And-Run Driver Wanted

Authorities are currently looking for a vehicle and driver involved in an incident in Danbury last Tuesday.

Officials responded to reports of a crash on the eastbound lanes of I-84 crossing Danbury, at the Exit 7 off-ramp (Route 202). 24-year-old Devon Ames of Danbury was driving her 2013 Mini Cooper on the right lane of the highway when an SUV driven by a still unidentified motorist swerved onto her lane, pushing her off the roadway. Ames sustained injuries in the incident and was tended to by emergency responders. The driver of the SUV stopped just past Exit 7 but immediately started driving again and fled the scene. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information about the SUV, described as either a dark blue- or black-colored vehicle, to contact them as soon as possible.

In cases like this, instances of hit-and-run will only strengthen cases of negligence or reckless behavior against accident suspects/culprits. Authorities handling these cases will always work diligently to bring these people to justice. As another benefit of this, motorists injured in these incidents may have the option of filing for damages if their legal counsel deems it appropriate.

Danbury – Highway Hit-And-Run

A hit-and-run incident happened on the highway in Danbury last Thursday evening.

Authorities were alerted to the crash at approximately 9:40 p.m. and immediately dispatched fire and EMS crews to the eastbound lanes of I-84. 25-year-old Matthew Schwartz of Woodbridge was driving his 2019 Subaru Crosstrek and slowed down for traffic when another vehicle hit him from behind near Exit 8. Schwartz reportedly sustained injuries in the collision. Instead of stopping, the still unidentified vehicle fled the scene. Officials are still investigating the accident and looking for the hit-and-run suspect. Anyone who may have information about the crash can contact authorities.

Instances of hit-and-run, in almost all cases, would only aggravate cases against suspects/culprits involved in road accidents, particularly when reckless behavior or negligence is established. Parties affected by these events can consult legal experts to determine what their best course of action would be.

EMS crews have tended to those injured in the crash, while Eversource has already been contacted to repair the damaged pole. The incident is currently under investigation. Danbury – Motorcyclist In Serious Crash

A motorcyclist was trapped under a vehicle in Danbury last Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., authorities received reports of a crash in front of 52 Federal Road and immediately dispatched emergency crews. According to responders, a 2004 Harley Davidson driven by a 25-year-old man from Brooklyn collided with a 2012 Dodge Ram operated by a 51-year-old man from Port Chester. The motorcycle slid under the pickup truck — the rider was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters. He was immediately transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck was not injured. The accident is currently being investigated by officials. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them as soon as possible.

As exhibited in this case, most motorcycle accidents result in serious injuries to riders. Establishing accountability in these cases is an important goal for accident investigators. This is also important to victims as this enables them to file for damages with the help of their legal counsel, particularly in accidents where negligence has been established.
