Bridgeport – Person Injured In Shooting

A teen was injured in a road shooting in Bridgeport last Monday evening.

Local police responded to reports of gunfire on Bell Street and immediately dispatched officers to the area. According to responders, an 18-year-old male was discovered in the area with a serious leg injury. He was reportedly shot at by an unidentified assailant who then fled the scene. No word yet on whether or not there were people who witnessed the incident. The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he is currently listed as stable. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are asking anyone with relevant info to contact them as soon as possible.

Shootings like this can be caused by many factors and, in the absence of witnesses, can be challenging to investigate. That said, authorities will eventually be able to establish liability in all of these cases so that responsible parties can be brought to justice. It’s also important to note that parties injured due to reckless or negligent behavior may, in certain cases, have legal options at their disposal. Consulting experts can help victims make sense of these avenues.

Bridgeport – Officer Injured In Crash

A K9 police officer and her animal companion were injured in a crash in Bridgeport late Sunday evening.

At approximately 10:17 p.m., Officer Marie Yetti was patrolling near the intersection of State and Yale Streets when her cruiser was hit by a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 25-year-old Marie Zalaveta. Emergency responders quickly converged at the scene to assist all parties involved and immediately transported Officer Yetti to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. Her animal companion, Uno, a German Shepherd, was also injured in the crash, though the extent of his injuries has yet to be determined. Zalaveta was also hurt in the incident but refused to be treated on-site or be taken to the hospital. According to officials, Zalaveta claimed she stopped prior to crossing the intersection. But according to traffic footage at the intersection, she failed to do so. Zalaveta is now facing several charges related to the crash.

There have been many cases similar to this, of motorists causing accidents because of ignoring traffic signs. As examples of reckless or negligent behavior, these cases may allow injured parties to explore and pursue legal avenues that can help them cope and find closure. Legal experts can study their cases and determine suitable courses of action.

Bridgeport – DUI Suspect Arrested After Pedestrian Crash

An intoxicated driver was apprehended following a pedestrian incident in Bridgeport early Friday morning.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., 39-year-old Jose David Alamo-Diaz was attempting to cross Barnum Avenue when he was hit by a 2015 Volkswagen Passat traveling west. Alamo-Diaz sustained critical injuries in the incident and was immediately transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he was pronounced dead soon after. Responding police officials identified the driver of the vehicle as 27-year-old Moniece McNeil of Bridgeport. After an initial evaluation of McNeil, she was arrested and charged with having insufficient insurance and second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle. Authorities continue to collect evidence related to the incident and are asking anyone with relevant info to contact them as soon as possible.

Charges of second-degree manslaughter are usually reserved for individuals suspected of driving under the influence. Suffice it to say, culprits must be made accountable for these unfortunate events. Victims or their families/next of kin should also be aware that they can pursue various legal options related to these incidents. With assistance from legal experts, these avenues can help them cope and find closure.

Bridgeport – Pedestrian Crash

A pedestrian was hit by a car at an intersection in Bridgeport yesterday.

Authorities were alerted to an incident at the intersection of Wood and Cleveland Avenues. At around 5:44 p.m., responders/EMS crews arrived at the accident scene and immediately transported the injured pedestrian to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the car stayed at the crash site and has cooperated with officials. No word yet on the current status of the victim. This incident is currently under investigation. Updates will be provided as soon as more info becomes available.

It’s only appropriate for EMS crews to be automatically dispatched to any road incident involving pedestrians, simply because this type of accident almost always result in injuries. It’s also prudent to investigate these incidents as quickly as possible so that responsible parties can be brought to justice. These are obvious procedures/steps that follow pedestrian cases. What’s less apparent are the options that victims of these situations can explore and pursue. Consulting legal experts can help aggrieved parties make sense of options that can help them find closure.

Bridgeport – Rollover Crash Update

Local officials just released an update regarding last Tuesday’s intersection crash in Bridgeport.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard. Three vehicles were involved in the crash, with one vehicle resting on its roof when emergency responders arrived. One motorist was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment of injuries, while other parties were evaluated on-site. After an initial investigation of the incident, authorities have released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the intersection crash. According to reports, the driver of one vehicle drove through a stop sign and was overspeeding. This led to that vehicle crashing into a second vehicle that rolled over due to the severity of the impact. The vehicle that overturned also hit a third vehicle due to the first collision. Based on the evidence that authorities have gathered so far, a misdemeanor summons has been issued against the driver of the overspeeding vehicle. Officials have yet to identify any party involved in the incident and will do so when appropriate.

It is now apparent that at least one party exhibited reckless behavior that resulted in this crash. This is noteworthy because, in incidents where reckless or negligent behavior has been established, injured parties may have the option of seeking damages under proper circumstances and with the guidance of expert legal counsel.

Bridgeport – Intersection Pedestrian Accident

A pedestrian was hit by a car at a Bridgeport intersection yesterday evening.

At approximately 6:16 p.m., local officials were alerted to an incident at the intersection of Park and Shelton Streets. Emergency crews were immediately dispatched to the area and discovered a pedestrian who was injured after getting hit by a passing car. Both the victim and the vehicle have yet to be identified by authorities who are now investigating the incident. The area was blocked off temporarily to allow investigators to collect evidence — the scene has since been cleared. This post will be updated as soon as officials release more info.

It’s only appropriate for authorities to cordon off accident sites so that involved parties can be effectively assisted and crash evidence properly collected. Suffice it to say, if any form of negligence is established in any of these cases, not only will culprits be brought to justice, but victims may also have the option of filing for damages if deemed appropriate by legal experts.
