Stratford – Interstate Crash Victims Identified
Authorities have identified the victims of an August 8 highway crash in Stratford.
At approximately 9:17 p.m. a Honda Accord with three occupants was traveling south on I-95 crossing Stratford when it suddenly veered off the road, hitting a guardrail before falling down an embankment north of exit 30. 18-year-old Destiny Arriaga, a passenger in the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken by emergency crews to Bridgeport Hospital where she later died. 17-year-old Jose Carpio, the driver of the car, and 18-year-old Michael Jackson both sustained injuries and were also brought to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment. Carpio and Jackson have been listed as stable. The crash is still under investigation. Officials will release more updates when appropriate.
As this incident is still under investigation, authorities have yet to accurately identify the cause of the crash. That said, if reckless behavior, DUI or negligence is established in this and other similar cases, victims or their families can consult legal experts to determine their best course of action.
