Southington – Lyft Driver Assaulted
A rideshare driver was assaulted by his passenger in Southington last Tuesday.
A Palestinian Lyft driver was taking 40-year-old James Rarick of Selkirk, New York, and another passenger to Homewood Suites on West Street when an altercation inside the vehicle took place. According to initial reports, Rarick attacked the driver after hearing him speak another language and learning about his home country. The driver sustained injuries and was hospitalized following the assault. Rarick was eventually apprehended by authorities and is now facing charges of first-degree intimidation, second-degree breach of peace, and third-degree assault. His first court date is on March 24.
