Shelton – Highway Vehicle Accident

A crash closed a portion of the highway in Shelton yesterday.

Reports of the accident came in at around 5:39 p.m., and authorities sent emergency crews to the northbound lanes of Route 8 to assist motorists injured in the crash. According to responders, a still unspecified number of vehicles was involved in a collision about half a mile past Exit 12. This forced a partial closure of the roadway while crews cleared the site of all obstructions. All lanes were cleared about an hour later. The incident is still under investigation. This post will be updated as new information is released.

In most cases, road closures are cleared as quickly as possible to avoid unnecessary inconvenience to motorists around crash sites. That said, a proper investigation of all accidents will always be the primary objective as bringing culprits to justice can help improve road safety for everyone. Not only that, identifying culprits/causes can also enable crash victims to find closure in the form of filing for damages if appropriate.
