Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers considers community outreach to be one of the firm’s core values. In its many years of operation, the firm’s team of Connecticut personal injury lawyers has taken steps to ensure its clients receive highly personalized legal advice and representation based on their individual circumstances.

Now, the firm is excited to expand its community outreach efforts. Starting in 2025, undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to apply for the Safe Drive Guide Scholarship. This scholarship promises $2,500 to a student who can create an outstanding video recommending steps drivers can take to improve their roadway safety.

Students have until August 31, 2025, to complete their videos and submit them for the firm’s consideration.

Who Is Eligible?

Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers wants to invite undergraduate and graduate students from all areas of study to apply for the Safe Drive Guide Scholarship. However, applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the scholarship:

  • An applicant must be enrolled in or accepted at a United States college, university, or graduate school.
  • An applicant must include all relevant application materials in their application packet.
  • An applicant must agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions.

We ask that students revisit these criteria before finalizing their scholarship application forms.

Students applying for the Safe Drive Guide Scholarship should complete the scholarship form on this page and upload a link to their video before submitting their application for Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers’ consideration.

Scholarship Video Topic

Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers requests that students applying for the Safe Drive Guide Scholarship create a video up to three minutes long going into detail about the strategies they believe would help today’s drivers limit their risk of personal injuries.

Ideally, a student’s video should recommend personal steps a driver can take to limit the danger they encounter on the road as well as city or country-wide initiatives that might encourage safer driving habits.

Once students are satisfied with their videos, Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers requests that students upload those videos to YouTube as unlisted content. Students should then include a link to their unlisted videos along with the rest of their application packet.

Tips for Crafting a Strong Video

Students interested in creating strong videos should:

  • Craft a script that thoroughly addresses the question posed by the scholarship
  • Prepare to record their videos in a well-lit area with minimal noises and interruptions
  • Include their full name and the name of the scholarship they’re applying for within the first ten seconds of their videos

We also recommend that students include any sources they use to round out their videos and that students restrict their use of footage to copyright-free content. Students should also come up with a creative title for their video.

While we encourage students to take advantage of media editing tools like Adobe Creative Cloud, we do not require students to uniquely edit their videos. Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers will not select a scholarship winner based on the quality of their editing but rather on the quality of their content.

A Note on AI Video Generation

Students may use AI to create B-roll footage to supplement their scripts. However, the use of AI to generate a script, modify a student’s voice, create fake characters, or generate a video wholesale will see a student’s application removed from the applicant pool.

Application Deadline

Students have until August 31, 2025, to complete their videos and submit their application packets through Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers’ website. The firm cannot accept applications submitted after this deadline passes.

Once the scholarship submission period closes, the scholarship selection committee will watch all of the videos submitted for consideration. The firm reserves up to three months to finish viewing students’ applications. Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers asks that neither students nor their families reach out to the firm with questions about an application’s status during this time.

Selection & Award Notification Process

Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers requires all students interested in pursuing the Safe Drive Scholarship to submit their application packets by August 31, 2025. The firm’s scholarship selection committee will not consider scholarship applications submitted after this deadline passes.

Scholarship applicants must include all required materials to be considered for the $2,500 prize.

The scholarship selection committee reserves up to three months to choose the Safe Drive Guide Scholarship winner from its applicant pool. Please do not contact Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers during this time, as we cannot answer questions about the status of a student’s application.

Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision. When the scholarship selection committee chooses its winner, it will inform that student directly. Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers will then mail the student’s winnings to their university.
