Old Lyme – Highway Vehicle Accident
A highway crash resulted in a temporary road closure in Old Lyme yesterday evening.
Authorities were alerted to the incident at around 6:10 p.m. Fire and EMS crews were dispatched to the northbound lanes of I-95 and discovered a vehicle accident that occurred about half a mile past Exit 70 (Route 1). Injuries were reported in the crash, and officials blocked a portion of the highway to allow them to process the site and clear it of obstructions. All lanes were eventually cleared around 40 minutes later. Authorities have yet to provide additional information related to the crash. Updates will be provided when they do so.
Establishing a blockade around crash sites can frequently result in delays, but is necessary to allow medical personnel and investigators to do their work. Establishing accountability is always a primary objective, and this will obviously help authorities bring culprits to justice. As an added benefit, and in certain situations, this can also allow injured parties to file for damages/compensation if deemed an appropriate move by legal experts.
