New Haven – Train Accident Victim Identified
Authorities have just identified the victim of last week’s train accident in New Haven.
At approximately 5:40 a.m. last Wednesday, 53-year-old Edward Calandrella was at the Metro-North facility when he was struck by a departing train. He sustained critical injuries and was declared dead soon after. The accident forced the cancellation of that trip and delayed several others while authorities investigated the scene. Calandrella was initially tagged by terminal officials as trespassing. However, the case is still under active investigation. Further updates will be provided as new info becomes available.
Certain factors/variables are easily identified in many accidents. That said, circumstances that precede or cause these incidents can be challenging to determine. It’s in these scenarios where authorities will need to investigate all possibilities thoroughly before making any conclusion. It’s crucial that responsible parties are brought to justice. And it’s also important that victims or their families are given ample opportunities to find closure.
