Middletown – Pedestrian Crash Victim Identified

Authorities have identified the victim of last month’s pedestrian incident in Middletown.

At 6:23 p.m. on November 27, a pedestrian was attempting to cross Newfield Street when he was struck by a 2014 Dodge Durango driven by 28-year-old Daryl Franklin. The victim was immediately transported to Middlesex Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead soon after. The victim has now been identified as 68-year-old Albert Burgess of Middletown. The incident is still under investigation. Authorities will release more info when appropriate.

Crash investigations can take months in many instances. This is frequently the case because accurately establishing accountability is the end goal, and authorities have to explore all possibilities and study all available evidence before making any conclusion. With that said, victims of these unfortunate events, or their families, should also be aware of the legal options they can pursue if investigators discover negligence as a factor in their cases.
