A vehicle traveling on the highway crashed into a tree in Marlborough last Saturday morning.
State and local officials responded to reports of a crash on the eastbound side of Route 2 and immediately dispatched fire and EMS crews to the area. Responders discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole, resulting in injuries. Medical personnel have since attended to everyone affected by the accident — officials have yet to disclose the number of victims. The crash forced the closure of the highway between Exits 10 and 13, and advised motorists to use secondary roads to reach their destinations. The crash is currently under investigation. More updates will be provided as they become available.
There have been instances in the past where vehicles hitting utility poles have resulted in widespread outages to various services. That said, authorities will always work hard to identify the causes of this type of accident so that road safety can be improved for everyone. Establishing accountability can also benefit victims of these incidents as they might have the option of filing for damages if deemed appropriate by legal experts.
