Ledyard – Road Closure Following Crash
A section of Route 117 in Ledyard was blocked off following a vehicle accident early yesterday morning.
The incident was reported to state and local officials at approximately 1:50 a.m. Emergency crews sent to Route 117 (Center Groton Road) discovered a single-vehicle crash at its intersection with Lambtown Road. The area was cordoned off to allow medical personnel to assist motorists injured in the incident. No word yet on entrapment, hit-and-run, or the number of affected individuals. The crash site has since been cleared, and the case is currently under investigation. Updates will be provided when officials release more info.
Single-vehicle accidents with no immediately discernible causes have to be investigated thoroughly for driver negligence and possible vehicle failures/defects. Of course, authorities will always look at all possibilities before making any conclusion, and bringing responsible parties to justice will depend on this. That said, victims of these events can pursue their own claims against suspects/culprits, particularly in cases where negligence has been discovered.
