Hartford – Hit-And-Run Suspect Pleads Guilty
A man charged with manslaughter related to the death of a 22-year-old woman back in February 2018 has pleaded guilty last Tuesday.
25-year-old Joseph Barreto faced several charges related to an incident back in February 2018 where he had stolen a pickup truck and a short time later crashed into a vehicle driven by then 22-year-old Reny Alfonso-Jimeno. She sustained major injuries in the incident and was brought to Hartford Hospital where she was eventually pronounced dead. Occupants of a second vehicle also sustained minor injuries in the crash. Barreto fled from the accident scene. Authorities said he was drinking alcohol and ingesting cocaine that evening. He now faces 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation at his upcoming sentencing.
