Glastonbury – Hit-And-Run Incident Update

Authorities have released more info regarding last January’s hit-and-run incident in Glastonbury.

A 17-year-old motorist was arrested and charged with negligent homicide after hitting 84-year-old Valda Dienavs. The senior crossed Griswold Street in an attempt to retrieve her mail when she was struck by the vehicle. The driver fled the area but was apprehended soon after. Earlier this week, the suspect said that the victim fell back as she was passing her, claiming this led to the incident. However, the victim’s family described Dienavs as alert and mobile, despite her age, so the suspect’s claim was unlikely. Officials are still collecting evidence related to this case and are expected to release more updates when appropriate.
