Glastonbury – Charges Filed Against Hit-And-Run Suspect
Multiple charges have been filed against a teen motorist who hit a senior pedestrian in Glastonbury last January.
On January 23, 84-year-old Valda Dienavs crossed Griswold Street in an attempt to retrieve her mail when she was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old female motorist. Dienavs was pronounced dead at the scene. After a thorough investigation, the suspect was arrested Tuesday and, as of Thursday, charges of evading responsibility, failure to drive right, and negligent homicide with a motor vehicle have been filed against the driver. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 22.
Authorities investigating various road incidents typically need time to study these cases so that accountability can be accurately established. That said, justice will be served in due time as exemplified in this scenario. These negligent individuals will have to face charges filed by the state and, under appropriate circumstances, claims filed by victims or their families. This is an option aggrieved parties can pursue with the help of legal experts.
