Fairfield – Charges Filed In Interstate Crash

Charges have just been filed against a motorist suspected of injuring several people on the highway in Fairfield.

On June 16 last year, state trooper Gregory Sawicki stopped on the shoulder of I-95 North crossing Fairfield to assist motorists in a disabled vehicle. A few minutes later, 33-year-old Joseph Buzzanca crashed his Chevrolet Tahoe into Sawicki’s vehicle. This forced the car to lunge forward, hitting the disabled vehicle. Occupants of all three vehicles sustained various injuries in the incident and were subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment. After a thorough investigation, officials revealed that Buzzanca was under the influence at the time of the crash. Multiple charges have since been filed against him, and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 11.

This case highlights the need to immediately apprehend motorists suspected of DUI. These culprits have and will continue to hurt other people if not taken off the road. That said, victims of these unfortunate events should also be aware of options they can pursue if injured due to DUI or negligence. Consulting legal experts will be beneficial in these scenarios.
