Derby – Fatal Head-On Collision
A head-on collision in Derby midday Sunday resulted in a fatality.
At 11:14 a.m., a vehicle traveling west of Roosevelt Drive (Route 34) unexpectedly swerved onto the eastbound lane, crashing into a vehicle head-on, then bursting into flames. The still-unidentified driver of the striking vehicle died in the crash, while the second driver sustained injuries and was quickly taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment.
