Darien – Interstate Accident
A section of I-95 was closed after an accident in Darien late yesterday evening.
At around 9:16 p.m., fire and EMS crews were dispatched to the southbound lanes of I-95 after receiving reports of a crash that occurred about a quarter of a mile past Exit 10 (Ledge Road). According to responders, the crash resulted in injuries and forced the closure of a portion of the highway. Medical personnel quickly assisted motorists involved in the accident, while other road crews started cleanup operations. The site was cleared at approximately 10:01 p.m. Officials have yet to specify the number of people and vehicles affected by the incident — an investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
Nighttime accidents have to be processed and cleared quickly to avoid collateral effects, such as heavy delays and possibly more accidents. Having said that, investigators are always given enough time to collect evidence so that they can accurately identify crash causes/culprits. This will help authorities improve road safety for everyone, as well as allow crash victims to seek justice and find closure.
