North Haven – Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested

Authorities have arrested a hit-and-run suspect in North Haven last Friday.

40-year-old Mark Rubino of Meriden was arrested by authorities in connection to a March 11 incident where a mother walking with her children were hit by a vehicle driven by Rubino on Ridge Road, near its intersection with Hickory Hill Road. Meriden – Pedestrian Injured By Vehicle

A person was hit by a vehicle in Meriden last Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 4:40 p.m., reports came in of a pedestrian incident in the area of 236 Reservoir Avenue. According to officials, the culprit is a black SUV reportedly driven by a female suspect. The incident resulted in injuries to the victim. Emergency crews have already cleared the scene, but authorities are still investigating the case. Bridgeport – Child Pedestrian Injured

A pedestrian was injured in Bridgeport yesterday evening.

A few minutes past 7:00 p.m., a child pedestrian was hit by a quad at the intersection of Ogden and East Main Streets. Instead of staying, the quad rider fled the scene. Emergency crews have attended to the victim and have since cleared the scene. Authorities are now looking for the suspect in this hit-and-run case and are asking anyone who may have knowledge of the incident to contact them as soon as possible.

Pedestrian safety is well-protected under state and local laws, so those injured due to negligence, DUI or reckless behavior may be entitled to file for damages/compensation under proper circumstances. Incidents of hit-and-run will only strengthen these cases against accident culprits.

Bridgeport – Firefighter Injured After Hit-And-Run

A city crewman was injured in Bridgeport last Friday evening.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Stratford Avenue and East Main Street (Route 127). A 46-year-old Bridgeport firefighter was off-duty and crossing Stratford Avenue when he was hit by what witnesses said was a Toyota Corolla making a turn towards East Main Street. Instead of the stopping, the driver of the car fled the scene, traveling north on East Main. The firefighter sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported by emergency crews to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment. Bridgeport Police officials continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone who may have information about the suspect to contact them as soon as possible.

Pedestrians injured by negligence, DUI or reckless behavior can file for damages/compensation under appropriate circumstances. Instances of hit-and-run can only aggravate cases against suspects. Consulting a legal expert can be beneficial in these situations.

Norwalk – Hit-And-Run Suspect Surrenders To Authorities

A hit-and-run suspect surrenders to Norwalk Police last Monday afternoon.

23-year-old Jose Cuahuizo was arrested in connection to a May 5 incident where he hit a pedestrian. The victim was walking near the intersection of North Main and Marshall Streets when he was hit by a car driven by Cuahuizo. Instead of staying, the suspect fled the accident scene. Emergency crews immediately transported the victim to Norwalk Hospital where he eventually recovered. Cuahuizo subsequently called the police to report the incident but only turned himself in last Monday. He is now facing charges of evading responsibility for an accident.

Pedestrian safety is well-protected under state and local laws, so injuries resulting from negligence or reckless behavior/driving can be strong grounds for filing damage/compensation claims. Cases of hit-and-run only aggravate these situations.

Stamford – Pedestrian Injured After Hit-And-Run

A pedestrian was injured after a hit-and-run incident in Stamford last Saturday.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Selleck Street and Southfield Avenue. A 17-year-old girl was crossing Selleck Street with her dog when a truck traveling north on Southfield Avenue made a left turn on Selleck, hitting her. The victim sustained injuries in the incident. Instead of stopping, 37-year-old truck driver Udiel Chinchilla-Goody left the scene. Authorities eventually caught up to Chinchilla-Goody on Sunnyside Avenue. He is now facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident, operating a vehicle outside his license class, and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

Motorists or pedestrians injured due to negligence or reckless behavior can, under appropriate circumstances, file for damage/compensation claims. These cases can be strengthened by aggravating factors, such as hit-and-run.

East Haven – Sentence For Fatal Hit-And-Run

A man was sentenced in East Haven last Tuesday for a fatal pedestrian incident.

35-year-old Edward Santomassimo of North High Street was just sentenced to more than four years in prison in connection to a 2016 incident where he hit and killed a pedestrian. At approximately 8:30 p.m. on December 3, 2016, 59-year-old Lynn Travisano of Michael Street was crossing Foxon Road (Route 80) in front of Citgo Gas Station when she was hit by a Chevy Silverado pickup truck driven by Santomassimo. She sustained serious injuries in the incident and was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital a few minutes after 9:00 p.m. Instead of staying at the scene, Santomassimo fled the area. A police cruiser that happened to be in the area was able to record footage of the escaping truck. This lead to the arrest of Santomassimo that same evening.

The circumstances in this case, as well as the fact that state laws are very strict when it comes to protecting pedestrian safety, prove how authorities always show diligence when it comes to investigating road-related incidents. It pays to take note of this and other similar cases because they inform us of our rights and legal options as motorists and pedestrians.
