New London – Pedestrian In Critical Condition After Hit

A pedestrian was seriously hurt in a crash in New London last Tuesday evening.

At around 10:15 p.m., a pedestrian was walking near the entrance of New London Mall when he/she was hit by a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Michael Meare. According to emergency responders, the still-unidentified victim was trapped beneath the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. The pedestrian was rescued and immediately transported to the hospital where he/she is currently listed in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle was apprehended by officials and is suspected of driving under the influence. The case is still under investigation. Updates will be provided when appropriate.

Driving under the influence is, obviously, a serious offense, and authorities will always exhibit unreserved diligence in bringing offenders to justice. Motorists and pedestrians injured by DUI suspects would also have various legal avenues at their disposal as this is considered negligent behavior. Consulting legal experts will help aggrieved parties make sense of their options and determine a suitable course of action that will help them find closure.

Norwalk – DUI/Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested

A motorist was arrested in Norwalk following a pedestrian incident last Saturday.

A 32-year-old pedestrian was attempting to cross North Main Street at approximately 2:20 a.m. when a white Ford Fusion hit him. Instead of stopping, the driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene. The victim sustained facial injuries and was transported by responders to Norwalk Hospital for treatment. Officials started searching for the suspect and, after pursuing a lead from a witness, was apprehended before the on-ramp to I-95. According to police, the driver, 37-year-old Cameron Davis, failed a sobriety test and was taken into custody. He is currently facing counts of assault with a motor vehicle and driving under the influence, among other charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 8.

Pedestrian accidents almost always result in serious injuries, and these cases are only aggravated by instances of hit-and-run and/or driving under the influence. Following these cases is useful because they inform us of the circumstances surrounding these incidents, and our options if ever we or our loved ones are involved in similar situations. Suffice it to say, talking to legal experts can be beneficial in these situations.

Bristol – Suspect Enters Plea In DUI Incident

A DUI suspect just pleaded not guilty to charges related to a pedestrian incident in Bristol.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. on August 24, a pedestrian was walking on Jerome Avenue, near Swanson Drive, when he was hit by a vehicle being driven by 22-year-old Clayton Nogiec. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries in the incident. Instead of stopping immediately, Nogiec fled the area. Authorities received a call from a good samaritan informing them of his possible location, and he was eventually apprehended on Farmington Avenue. According to police records, Nogiec was exhibiting erratic behavior when he was arrested. Officials later found a regulated substance in his possession. He currently faces several charges related to the incident. His next court date is on October 10.

Following this and other similar cases can be useful because it informs motorists of the circumstances surrounding road accidents that involve DUI, negligence or reckless behavior. In many situations, and with the help of legal experts, victims of these unfortunate events may have the option of filing for damages as this is an appropriate way for them to seek financial help and eventually find closure.

Trumbull – Senior Pedestrian Struck By Car

A Trumbull resident was seriously hurt in an accident yesterday morning.

At approximately 8:53 a.m., local authorities received reports of a pedestrian who was hurt on White Plains Road (Route 127). Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered a seriously injured, 73-year-old man who was hit by a passing car while he was attempting to cross the road. The still-unidentified senior was attended to by people who witnessed the incident before officials arrived. EMS crews transported the victim to Bridgeport Hospital where he is currently listed as stable. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped after the collision and has cooperated with authorities. The case is still under investigation, and officials are asking other people who may have witnessed the incident to contact them as soon as possible.

According to authorities handling this case, the victim was within a clearly marked crosswalk when he was hit by the vehicle. It’s also important to point out that the driver stopped, thus avoiding circumstances that might have aggravated her case. That said, investigators will study this incident thoroughly so that an accurate conclusion can be made. Whatever the outcome, if any form of reckless behavior or negligence is discovered, the victim may have legal options he can explore to help him find closure after this traumatic event.

Waterbury – Bus Passenger Killed By A Car

A pedestrian was killed by a passing car in Waterbury last Monday evening.

At around 8:00 p.m., 30-year-old Mariely Cruz of Waterbury just exited a passenger bus and was crossing the street at 345 Stillson Road when she was hit by a 2015 Honda Civic. Instead of stopping, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. EMS personnel immediately responded to reports of the crash, though Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle was eventually found, and 31-year-old Kristen Mulcahy was arrested in connection to an earlier incident. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash that killed Cruz and the prior incident that Mulcahy was involved in. Officials will provide updates when appropriate.

Pedestrian accidents are always investigated for possible negligence or reckless behavior, and that seems to be involved in this case. Establishing accountability is always a primary goal for accident investigators, and this is important if culprits are to be brought to justice. Not only that, it also enables victims or their families to file for damages if circumstances warrant that course of action.
