Bridgeport – Motorist Arrested In DUI Incident
A motorist was charged with DUI in Bridgeport yesterday.
33-year-old Lee Velasquez of Stillman Street was charged in connection to a June 24, 2018 incident where she was involved in a two-vehicle crash. Velasquez was driving in the area of the Route 8/25 junction when she collided with a vehicle driven by William Acevedo, Jr. of Bridgeport. Velasquez was discovered by emergency crews lying on the ground with multiple lacerations on her body. On the other hand, Acevedo, Jr. was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. Both were eventually brought to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where Acevedo, Jr. was diagnosed with multiple fractures, while Velasquez was treated for more serious injuries that left her paralyzed. The investigation that followed determined that Velasquez had a blood alcohol level that exceeded the legal limit. She was also not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
