Berlin – Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested
A motorist suspected of killing a pedestrian in Berlin was just arrested.
At approximately 10:40 p.m. on October 16, 2019, 58-year-old Janine Wiktor of New Britain was walking in front of 185 New Britain Road when she was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Emanuel Story. Story fled the area immediately after the crash and was eventually identified after a thorough investigation and reports from various witnesses. The suspect was arrested last weekend and is now facing a charge of evading responsibility. He has since posted bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 17.
There are many circumstances that can precede and follow hit-and-run incidents resulting in injuries or fatalities. Regardless of circumstances, authorities will always exhaust all resources to bring suspects/culprits to justice. In cases where negligence can be proven, this may also allow victims or their families to pursue their own claims against these reckless individuals.
