Westport – Serious Injuries In Interstate Crash

A motorist was seriously hurt in a highway accident in Westport yesterday morning.

Emergency teams were dispatched to I-95 and discovered a vehicle that veered off the northbound side of the highway near Exit 17, crashing into several roadside structures before coming to a stop. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by responding firefighters. The victim was then transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. There is currently no word on the involvement of other vehicles in the accident. State and local officials have started investigating the crash and will release updates as new info becomes available.
