Westport – Highway Crash
Reports came in of a highway crash in Westport yesterday morning.
The incident occurred a few minutes after 6:00 a.m. on the southbound lane of Merritt Parkway (Route 15), between exits 42 and 41. Two vehicles were involved in the crash, and injuries were reported. One lane was closed by officials immediately after the accident, resulting in heavy delays in the area. All southbound lanes have since been cleared. The identities of those involved and other pertinent information have yet to be released by authorities pending an investigation.
This accident happened near the Saugatuck River bridge where road work is currently being done and lanes have been shifted around by contractors. While this might be a contributing factor in the crash, investigators will still review all possible angles to accurately determine the culprit. This is noteworthy because if negligence or reckless behavior/driving can be established, injured parties can be entitled to damages/compensation.
