Westport – Blockage After Multi-Vehicle Crash

A portion of the highway in Westport was blocked following an accident yesterday morning.

Reports came in of a highway incident a few minutes past 8:00 a.m. Emergency crews immediately responded to the southbound lanes of I-95 and discovered a two-car crash that occurred between Exits 19 and 18. The left lane was blocked off following the crash to allow medical personnel to assist everyone injured in the incident. No word yet on the number of people affected, though everyone has been accounted for and treated. Authorities advised motorists in the area to seek alternate routes while the crash site was being cleared. The incident is currently under active investigation. Officials have yet to identify anyone or otherwise provide specifics. They will do so when appropriate.

It’s only appropriate that crash sites are blocked off so that responders can process and clear these areas without the risk of getting injured themselves. Obviously, an important aspect of this process is investigating these accident scenes so that culprits can be made responsible for their actions. Not only that, this may also allow victims to seek damages in cases where negligence is involved.
