Waterbury – Hit-And-Run Injures Elderly Man
An elderly man crossing the street was a victim of a hit-and-run last Sunday in Waterbury.
The incident occurred on Grand Street, in front of Turf Restaurant. The victim was at a crosswalk when a vehicle, described by witnesses as a silver Lexus, hit the victim. Instead of stopping, the still unknown driver of the vehicle ran away from the scene. Witnesses reportedly saw the vehicle turn right on State Street. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Waterbury police have requested anyone who may have information regarding the incident to immediately contact them.
Pedestrian safety is well-protected under Connecticut laws, so in this case, the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle is liable for personal injury compensation on top of other state and local laws he/she may have broken. It’s important for us pedestrians and motorists to take note of this. Legal experts can help us with our claims if this happens to us or our loved ones.
