Winsted – Fatal Pedestrian Crash

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Winsted late Wednesday evening.

At approximately 11:11 p.m., a man was near the intersection of Willow Street and Case Avenue when he was struck by a car. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital by responding medical personnel. No word yet on the current status of the victim and the whereabouts of the striking vehicle and its operator. Officials are currently investigating the incident and will provide more details when appropriate.

Winsted – Late Evening Motorcycle Crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Winsted late Friday evening.

The incident occurred in front of 734 East Wakefield Boulevard at around 9:30 p.m. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found 29-year-old Charles Godshall lying on the road unconscious. Fire crews tended to the victim and performed CPR. Eventually, he was pronounced dead at 11:03 p.m. According to investigators, Godshall was possibly traveling north on East Wakefield Boulevard when he fell off his motorcycle, hitting a pole and wall. Officials are still investigating the incident.

There have been instances where single-vehicle (or motorcycle) accidents have been caused by product/vehicle defects, though this particular case still needs to be investigated by authorities.
