Harwinton – Negligent Driver Sentenced To Prison

A man was sentenced to prison for causing a crash in Harwinton that injured two people.

31-year-old Nikolas Rumery was sentenced to prison yesterday in connection with several incidents, including a road incident that resulted in multiple injuries. On March 13 last year, Rumery was driving a Honda Accord west on Route 4 when he swerved onto the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Nissan Pathfinder with two occupants. 42-year-old Melissa Denton was driving the SUV and incurred serious injuries, while her 15-year-old son was also hurt. Both were hospitalized following the crash. Rumery was also involved in other incidents, including multiple counts of assault. He is now facing at least 15 months in prison, as stipulated in his plea deal, followed by three years of probation with strict conditions.

It only makes sense for reckless or negligent individuals, regardless of their physical or mental condition, to be brought to justice and made liable for their actions. This will only make all roads safer for everyone else. Having said that, we have to familiarize ourselves with the avenues we can pursue if we are injured by these reckless parties.
