Preston – Fatality In Drive-By Shooting

A person was killed in a drive-by shooting in Preston early Saturday morning.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Routes 12 and 2A. A vehicle carrying an unspecified number of occupants drove by another vehicle and started shooting at it. The vehicle then fled the area. A passenger in the second vehicle was hit by the shooting — the vehicle was escorted by responding officials to L&M Hospital in New London where he/she eventually died. Officials are currently following leads that might help them apprehend the shooter or suspect vehicle, though they have yet to identify anyone involved in the incident. This post will be updated as soon as authorities release more info.

Officials would typically withhold details in specific cases when doing so might impede their investigations. Preston – Vehicle Falls Into Pond

A vehicle swerved off the road and into a pond in Preston last Saturday morning.

At around 9:00 a.m., 36-year-old Sadie Ensling was traveling west on Route 2A (Poquetanuck Road) when her vehicle swerved off the roadway, hitting a guardrail before falling into the Poquetanuck Pond. Brian Williams of Preston was driving his vehicle east in the area and was able to avoid Ensling’s car when it swerved off the road. He immediately stopped and pulled Ensling from her submerged vehicle. He performed CPR on her while waiting for emergency crews to arrive. Ensling was quickly brought to The William H. Backus Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The accident is still being investigated by officials.

Authorities will always consider all possibilities in investigating single-vehicle accidents, including product/vehicle defects, in identifying causes. It’s important to note that in accidents involving negligence or reckless behavior, victims or their families have the option of filing for damages/compensation with the help of their legal counsel.
