Newtown – Rear-End Crash

A rear-end collision was reported to authorities in Newtown earlier this month.

A motorist was issued an infraction following an incident that injured another driver. At approximately 7:05 p.m. on February 6, 26-year-old Melissa Chavez of Danbury stopped her 2013 Honda Civic at a traffic sign in front of 228 South Main Street. At this point, 31-year-old Nicholas Horvath of Milford crashed his 2007 Audi A4 into the back of the Honda. Chavez complained of pain following the incident but refused to be transported to the hospital. The subsequent investigation revealed that Horvath was tailgating and failed to anticipate traffic flow at the crash site.

This incident highlights how negligent behavior on the road can result in accidents that frequently harm motorists. Whiplash injuries are common in rear-end crashes and can result in medical conditions that linger for months or even years. These things said, people injured in various road accidents are always advised to talk to legal experts so that their cases can be thoroughly examined.

Single-vehicle accidents with no obvious causes are automatically investigated for possible vehicle defects/failures. Of course, all angles are studied as the goal is to accurately establish liability in all cases. Victims of these tragic events or their families are advised to seek legal guidance because, as much as everyone has to be given space to cope or grieve, it’s important that their cases are thoroughly evaluated so that various legal options are available to them.

Newtown – DUI Suspect Arrested

A motorist was arrested following a hit-and-run intersection crash in Newtown last week.

The incident occurred at the intersection of South Main Street (Route 25) and Glover Avenue. 41-year-old Ronald Morgan was driving a white BMW that collided with another vehicle at the junction. He reportedly engaged in a verbal argument with the driver of the second vehicle, but fled the area before responders arrived. A police chase ensued before Morgan was apprehended several miles from the crash site and after several attempted stops by enforcers. He was subsequently found to be intoxicated at the time of the incident and is currently facing multiple charges, including DUI and evading responsibility. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 27.

Driving under the influence and hit-and-run are both serious offenses that will only aggravate cases against suspects who have already committed other violations. Suffice it to say, taking these negligent individuals off the road is imperative. Under appropriate circumstances, parties injured by these suspects can also file damage claims with the help of expert legal counsel.
