Putnam – Intersection Crash With Critical Injuries

Two vehicles collided at an intersection in Putnam last Tuesday.

At around 4:53 p.m., authorities were alerted to an accident at the intersection of Route 171 and West Thompson/Harrissville Roads. Emergency teams were dispatched to the area and discovered a crash between a 1998 Toyota Camry driven by Teodor Teja and a 2011 Subaru Forester driven by 22-year-old Andre Bouchard. Both vehicles incurred heavy damage and were found in the middle of the intersection. Bouchard was transported to Day Kimball for minor injuries, while Teja was also transported to Day Kimball but was eventually transferred to UMASS Memorial Hospital due to critical injuries sustained in the crash. Putnam – Highway Rollover Crash

A truck overturned on the highway in Putnam yesterday.

Emergency teams were dispatched to I-395 South following reports of an accident in the area. At 2:20 p.m., a tractor-trailer unexpectedly swerved and rolled over near Exit 47, blocking a significant portion of the interstate. Putnam – Pedestrian Injured In Crash

A runner was seriously hurt after she was hit by a vehicle in Putnam yesterday morning.

At around 9:50 a.m., local authorities received reports of an incident on Woodstock Avenue and immediately dispatched emergency crews to the area. A pedestrian was jogging north when she was struck by a vehicle traveling south on the roadway. The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to Day Kimball Hospital. She was later transferred to UMass Medical Center for further treatment. Putnam – Crash On I-84

A midday crash occurred on I-84 yesterday.

There were reports of a crash on the eastbound side of I-84 crossing Putnam yesterday, a mile east of exit 20. One lane was closed immediately after the crash which caused heavy traffic stretching for three miles. The lane has since been reopened. Putnam – Man Hurt After Being Hit by Car

Last Sunday, a man was seriously hurt after he was hit by a car in Putnam.

Richard Durocher, a 78-year-old Putnam resident, was on a crosswalk on Bridge Street, between Putnam Superior Court and Veteran’s Park when he was hit by a car. The driver’s identity was not disclosed by authorities but was described as an 81-year-old man from North Grosvenordale. Durocher sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Day Kimball Hospital. He was later moved to the UMASS Memorial Hospital for further treatment of his injuries. Circumstances of the incident are still being investigated and the authorities are encouraging possible witnesses to contact them as soon as possible.
